BEACH
Near Klong Yai Town, the beach between the Barn Talaepu Resort and By the Sea hotel is the only nice beach we came across. Near Barn Talaepu Resort the beach is wide with fine sand and the water is calm and good for swimming, although it is not as clear as many other beaches. This is a good place to stroll and relax.
Definitely visit this beach if you want to be part of the local customs away from Western demands. As an alternative to swimming in the sea, the resorts offer clear pools.
WHERE TO STAY
We really like the stylish wooden bungalows of Barn Talaepu Resort; most have great beach views and terraces overlooking an intimate creek that runs down to the beach. The owners are a friendly Cambodian-Thai couple. It is important to note that some of the bungalows are close to the road. It is not a busy passage, but if you are sensitive to traffic noise, it is better to ask for a bungalow away from the road.
A nice alternative is By the Sea, good mid-range bungalows although the beach is less beautiful. You can eat at the hotels or at Klong Yai’s night market or restaurants, about 5-7 kilometers away.
