BEACH
Khuk Khak (also named Memories beach) is the best beach in Khao Lak, with more than 5 kilometers of golden sand. Especially in the northern part the beach is very wide, even at high tide. The southern part of the beach has impressive waves, an ideal place for surfing. The northern part has calm water. Khao Lak’s surfing season runs from May to October.
There is a big difference between high tide and low tide. When the water is low, the beach is very wide and the sea quite shallow. Make sure to have a drink at our favorite bar on this beach, the Memories Beach Bar.
WHERE TO STAY
The only thing missing here are proper mid-range stays. However, you can easily find upper range resorts such as the Marriott, Apsara and Andamania. Our favorite excellent stay is Devasom Khao Lak Resort, a stunning place with a relaxed atmosphere.
At the north end of the beach, we found one budget place to stay: Pakarang Huts, which offers simple bamboo huts for a good price with private toilets and showers. In addition to the listed hotels, you will find small beach restaurants.
