BEACH
Hat Khom is a secluded beach in the north of Ko Phangan, where you can relax and enjoy the sun. The bay is small and surrounded by palm trees with good, shaded areas if the sun gets too bright. The beach is not wide, even with low tide. With fine white sand, crystal-clear water and a coral reef near the coast, it is a lovely place to spend some days and snorkel. Lastly, you can see many colorful fish swimming here, although the coral is nothing special.
At low tide, the water remains shallow, so before you can swim you will have to walk a bit. The water at the west end of the beach is rocky but still good enough for swimming. If you walk to the east, fewer rocks are in the water.
WHERE TO STAY
Ocean Experience and Coconut Beach Bungalows are the places to stay if you are looking for more comfort. Coral Bay and Haad Khom Bungalows are more budget options. Coral Bay has a traveler’s vibe.
All stays have restaurants. We recommend having a drink at Coral Bay where you can enjoy the great view over Chaloklum. It is 1,5-kilometer drive to other restaurants.
Hat Khom is an easily accessible bay in the northern area of Ko Phangan. When you enter the pier in Thong Sala, take a shared taxi to Hat Khom for 200 baht. Hat Khom is easily accessible by scooter.
